Lenawee Christian Ministries provides a Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and social services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time School Food Service Manager to join our school cafeteria team! This role is vital in ensuring students receive healthy, appealing meals while maintaining operational efficiency and meeting budgetary goals. In addition to our regular meal service, this person will also oversee our Concessions Team and inventory. This is a year around position.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation & Menu Planning:

  • Develop and implement nutritious, balanced menus that meet dietary guidelines and student preferences.

  • Ensure meals are prepared and served in accordance with health and safety regulations.

  • Coordinate with suppliers for the procurement of food and supplies.

Budget Management:

  • Develop, manage, and monitor the food service budget, ensuring that expenditures align with allocated funds.

  • Track food costs, inventory, and purchasing to minimize waste and optimize resources.

  • Prepare financial reports, including cost analysis and budgeting projections.

Staff Supervision & Training:

  • Supervise and train kitchen staff, including cooks, servers, and cleaning personnel.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, offer feedback, and foster a positive work environment.

  • Ensure staff adheres to health, safety, and sanitation regulations.

Food Safety & Cleanliness:

  • Oversee food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with local health department standards.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, storage areas, and dining spaces.

  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures are followed.

Customer Service:

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Respond to student and staff feedback, adjusting menus or services as needed.

  • Foster a positive dining experience for students and school staff.

Inventory & Supply Management:

  • Oversee inventory control, ensuring that food and supplies are ordered and stocked efficiently.

  • Maintain inventory records and monitor expiration dates to minimize waste and avoid shortages.

  • Oversee inventory for concessions ensuring optimal inventory levels

  • Verify product rotation to prevent waste by adhering to first-in, first-out system (FIFO).

Compliance & Reporting:

  • Ensure the cafeteria meets local, state, and federal regulations regarding food safety, nutrition, and sanitation.

  • Prepare reports for school administration, including financial statements, compliance checks, and progress updates.

Qualifications:

  • Christian Faith: 

  1. Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

  1. Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.

  • Must possess a valid Food Handler's Certification.

  • Proven experience in food service management, preferably in a school or institutional setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with a team.

  • A passion for providing a positive and welcoming environment for students and staff.

  • Enjoys working with and fostering a positive relationship with children.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds+

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and working in a kitchen environment.
