Volunteer Service Program (VSP)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Each family must either fulfill a 20-hour service requirement (previously 40 hours) or pay $500 in addition to tuition, reduced from the previous $1000 charge.

  • Great news! If you have completed 20 hours of service during the 2023-2024 academic year, you do not have to complete any additional hours. We will ask you to serve again beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year. When you receive your tuition agreement, you will see a line for the VSP charge of $500 and a VSP refund* for $500.

  • We have extended the timeframe for you to complete your 20 hours. For 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years combined, families will be required to complete 20 service hours per family or pay the additional $500 VSP charge. Hours must be completed by May 31, 2025 to receive the VSP refund*. We have many opportunities to earn those hours now or during the next academic year!

  • Yes, for the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 academic years combine, families will not be asked to serve more than 20 hours, and the maximum refundable charge per family is $500, not $1,000. We will evaluate the success of this program throughout the academic year and make any necessary changes for the following academic years.

  • Thank you for serving! If you have completed more than the required 20 hours per family, you may donate your hours to another family. Each family may have up to 50% of their hours donated by another family.

  • Your chosen payment plan, and when you complete your hours, will determine how the VSP charge and refund* will impact your payments:

    1. I pay my tuition in full on or before August 5th to receive the 1% annual payment discount.
    a. I have completed my required hours before paying my tuition: You will see a line in your FACTS portal for a $500 VSP charge and a line for a $500 VSP refund*.
    b. I have not completed my required hours before paying my tuition: You will have the $500 VSP charge added to your FACTS balance, which you can pay monthly or in full. Unfortunately, no additional discounts, such as the annual payment discount, are applied to the VSP charge. Once your required hours are completed, you will receive a refund*, or if you desire, we will apply it to the next academic year’s tuition or enrollment fees.

    2. I pay my tuition monthly:
At the beginning of the academic year, you will decide if you want to have a 10-month or 12-month payment plan. You will see a line for your student’s tuition and a line for the VSP charge in the plan. Once you have completed your required service hours, a refund* will be applied to your payment plan. This will result in a lowered monthly payment for the remaining unpaid months.

  • All families will see the VSP charge added to their FACTS payment plan. If you choose not to serve, for any reason, your VSP charge will support LCS in place of your service. If you have extenuating circumstances, we have designed an appeal process. Please reach out to the Director of Finance, Mrs. Rachel Mannor, to ask for the VSP waiver packet. Each request will be reviewed on an individual basis and may require an interview to fully understand your situation.
