Position: Head Lifeguard

Classification: Part Time Hourly

Reports To: Aquatics Manager

Lenawee Christian Ministries provides a Christ-centered education, spiritual development, and wellness services to the Lenawee County community, centered around Jesus Christ. 

Position Summary:

The Head Lifeguard is responsible for assisting the Aquatics Manager to lead the lifeguard team.  This position is 29 hours weekly with a minimum of 15 hours scheduled to lifeguard or teach aquatic programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Schedule and manage lifeguard staffing following established procedures

• Assist with leading lifeguard in-service training with thorough documentation

• Submit regular updates on staff training and skills performance

• Train new lifeguards

• Teach lifeguard certification courses

• Foster a cultural of accountability, professionalism, and spiritual growth among the lifeguard team

• Track patron attendance

• Communicate pool schedules, tasks, and other pertinent information to the lifeguard team with appropriate follow up and accountability

• Maintain safety equipment and notify appropriate personnel when maintenance is necessary

• Assist with water chemistry checks, pool cleaning, and basic pool maintenance tasks

• Oversee and instruct group and private swim lesson and swim club sessions

• Follow federal, state, and Centre guidelines

• Serve as the Supervisor on Duty as needed

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

·         Christian Faith:

·         Profess and demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

·         Adherence to Christian principles and values in both personal and professional life.

·         Educational Background/Experience:

·         Ability to relate and lead a diverse employee team

·         American Red Cross lifeguard certification

·         American Red Cross lifeguard instructor certification or the ability to obtain certification

·         American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification desirable

·         Minimum of one-year aquatic experience
